Showcasing a Year of Success and Progress

3C-REN unveils our latest annual report, showcasing a year of progress advancing energy efficiency initiatives across the tri-county region.

Our Building Performance Training program held 94 educational events in 2023 for 2,342 attendees. Of these events, 31 were for high schools, colleges and trade schools, as 3C-REN focuses on education for the next generation.

Energy Code Connect held 29 training events in 2023 for 673 attendees, one forum was held on online permitting for electrification, and the Code Coach supported 127 projects with Title 24 technical support.

Achievements for Home Energy Savings, our residential program, are shown above. We’re on track for even more savings in 2024.

3C-REN’s annual report highlights how our collective efforts are reducing energy use on the Central Coast and building our local workforce for the energy transition.

Celebrating Earth Month

Last month, 3C-REN engaged with communities throughout the tri-county region. In coordination with the Community Environmental Council, County of Santa Barbara, and County of Ventura, 3C-REN tabled at Earth Day events in the Cities of Fillmore, Thousand Oaks, Ventura, Oxnard, and Santa Barbara, and at the Santa Ynez Chumash Reservation, to introduce 3C-REN and their County’s sustainability programs and give away 3C-REN swag. Staff appreciated the time spent with residents to share how 3C-REN services can improve their homes and support regional sustainability goals.

In partnership with Resilient Central Coast, 3C-REN also hosted a prize giveaway of portable electric induction cooktops at Earth Day events. Attendees could see firsthand the advances in electric cooking (thanks to induction technology!) and check out other home electrification options like heat pump water heaters and HVAC systems.

We love helping folks take action on Earth Day—and every day—with 3C-REN and ResilientCentralCoast.org.

Code Coach Corner

On July 1, 2024, all commercial projects 100,000 sf and larger, and schools 50,000 sf and larger, will be required to comply with the new mandatory measure addressing embodied carbon through one of three pathways.

Hot & Toxic

We’re getting a kick out of Hot & Toxic, created by gasleaks.org. This over-the-top “reality show” plays out the drama from the 21 types of toxic air pollutants released by gas stoves. The show may be made up, but the methane in homes with gas is very real.
