Introduction to Residential HVAC Systems

This class will cover the basic steps needed to design a residential heating and cooling system.  It will cover load calculations (ACCA Manual J), equipment selection (ACCA Manual S) and duct design (ACCA Manual J).  It will go through a simple example home and introduce one of the available software programs that assist you in this process.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand what ACCA is and why their design manuals are so important.
  • Understand the importance and benefits of good HVAC design.
  • Understand the basic steps in the design process and take the mystery out of HVAC design.
